Because PTFE Rod is not perfect and does have a few slight disadvantages, manufacturers have produced grades which include such additives as glass filled grades, this helps with rigidity, hardness and reduced co-efficient of thermal expansion. Carbon filled grade has the advantage of an improved heat dispersion rate for bearings in hot environments. There are other more special grades of PTFE Rod that include bronze and molybdenum, these grades further improve areas of PTFE but are available with an advanced order to the manufacturers.
